El día de la hispanidad fue fenomenal, divertido y muy animado!
Hispanic day was amazing, fun and very lively!
During Hispanic Day, children took part in a carousel of four different Spanish-speaking country themed activities. The workshops for Years 5 and 6 included learning about Pamplona and the famous bull run, creating and sewing felt llamas, creating Mayan glyph bookmarks, making and eating salsa and sombrero biscuits, dancing the merengue and coding in Spanish! Years 3 and 4 took part in the cha-cha and salsa dancing, making quesadillas and pan con tomate, learning about the Day of the Dead and making maracas. We celebrated with a Spanish themed lunch of jambalaya and quesadillas and there was Spanish music in the playground during break and lunchtime thanks to Mr Trunkfield and Mr Yamoah! Our children now have some excellent Hispanic dancing skills! The day culminated in an assembly where teachers and children shared the activities they had taken part in. Prizes were also awarded for the best Hispanic outfits. There were so many fantastic and original costumes including three Frida Kahlos and two tacos! Prizes were given to the winners (below) in each class—we hope the children enjoy their Spanish books! I was extremely pleased with the effort that children and staff put into the day, and it was very much enjoyed by all.
Me gusta el día de la hispanidad porque es fantástico y muy divertido. Olé!
